Top 5 Healthy Activities To Do With Your Dad This Father’s Day

On Father’s Day, it is all about your dad and showing him how much you care about him. Plan something fun and healthy to do together with your beloved Daddy this weekend!

Take A Hike

Grab a cloth, some water and put aside an hour or two to go for a nature stroll with dad this Sunday! It’s a great way to reminisce about the old days while hiking. Walking or hiking is a good low-impact exercise for both you and your father to strengthen muscles and lower the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.

Toss the Ball

Grab a soccer ball and head over to the park for some throwing, catching, or kicking practice. Or you can even play badminton with the whole family.

Take a Field Trip

If you did not have the time to bring your parents for a trip, this is a great opportunity to accompany him on a little road trip. Stopping by at waterfall parks, pack a lunch and take a picnic break, pay a visit to the museums or historical sites. A great session to learn from your dad just by visiting places that he loves or been to.

Prepare Healthy Meal Together

After exercising, you can surprise your dad with a session of home-cooked meal preparation. Instead of throwing 20 chicken wings on the barbecue, you can opt for something a little lighter and more heart-healthy. While your dad is grilling healthy salmon, you can play with the seasoning, or if you prefer Malaysian cuisine, get you dad to cook hard boiled eggs, and you can prepare the fragrant healthy nasi lemak (recipe on Love Earth website). You might be surprised by his skills in the kitchen!

Gardening Activities

Tending the garden is something many dads enjoy, and you and dad can plant new varieties or tackle something bigger like a landscaping project. Gardening is a relatively low-impact and therapeutic way to spend time together, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) apparently classify it as a moderate cardiovascular workout. In fact, gardening for 45-minutes during the day can burn up to 300-calories. Now, that’s something you both can dig!

Enjoying fun and healthy Father’s Day is a great way to increase the awareness of Men’s Health and spending quality time with you loved ones.
