Top 5 Foods or Snacks For Dads

Father’s Day is right around the corner and you’re probably looking for the perfect gift for your dad. It isn’t always easy, but you can’t go wrong with a gift basket filled with yummy and healthy foods or snacks. Here are some ideas on the foods you can buy for your beloved Father along with its health benefits.

  1. Oats

This is the perfect breakfast food for your father! Oatmeal is high in fiber, beta-glucan, and packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Especially good for digestive health, weight loss, lowering blood sugar levels and to reduce the risk of heart disease.

  1. Nuts

A great choice to substitute snacks that are high in saturated fat and sugar, such as cookies, chocolates, or cakes. Nuts are high in protein, healthy fats, and antioxidant that brings many health benefits. This particular nut, Pistachio is a great way to reduce blood pressure and improving heart rate! Just make a small bowl of nuts or add them into a salad or cereals to enjoy them! It’s easy, healthy, and yummy!

  1. Seeds

Unsalted seeds such as flax, pumpkin, sunflower, or chia seeds have wonderful effects on regulating blood pressure too! Seeds contain high omega 3 fatty acids, and essential minerals, especially magnesium. Magnesium helps in relaxing our blood vessels and pressure. Your dad can simply add them into oatmeal or yoghurt each day and you may watch their blood pressure being regulated!

  1. Whole Grain Rice

White rice has been our best-loved staple food for thousands of years. We typically eat rice 2-3 times a day, but it’s also being responsible for a host of health issue. Consuming white rice may raise blood sugar levels, especially for those who are suffering from diabetes. This is because white rice has a high Glycemic Index (GI), which generally takes a longer time to digest and increasing demand for insulin. Hence, getting whole grain rice with lower GI for your dad helps him from losing all the fun from eating rice! Wholegrain Basmati Rice is known to have the lowest GI of all rice types and effective in managing diabetes.

  1. Dried Fruits

Dried fruits may work as a great snacking choice for your dad. Not only they can boost fiber, but they also supply our body with large amounts of antioxidants. Specifically dried apricots, which may help in lowering blood pressure and the risk of chronic diseases. Your dad can use them in salads, desserts, cereal or granola bowl, or even just by itself during snack time! Make sure to look for dried apricots that are deep brown color to avoid sulfur.

Now, you have a better idea on how to choose the right foods or snacks for your dad, quickly mix and match them into a hearty gift box!
